I’ll be supporting the candidate who will fight to keep Canada truly secular, who practices evidence based decision making, who supports opening up government and unmuzzling our scientists, and who will fight toe to toe against the ideology based Harper Neo/TheoCons who are destroying our Canada.

I haven’t done much publishing this year on my blog as other social media seems to have taken over.  That and I ran in yet another federal election for the NDP and took a lot out of any free time I might have had – not to mention having to park this blog in favour of a campaign page.  And Jack Layton’s untimely death put me in a real funk the last few weeks and started me doing a personal evaluation of my public life.  Politics, at least on the public side, will take a back seat for a few years.  We’ll see where the NDP goes first after Jack.  If labour runs the show then I’m gone.  If kept to a social democratic and a strongly secular direction with the involvement of business people like myself then I’m in.  Simple as that.

Otherwise, I’m out doing public speaking events on secular and business issues as per normal, both two halves of a very public life.   Talking secular issues on one hand, bashing the Harper Cons on the other, and fitting in some professional time to talk about spies and cyber crime.  What an interesting life I lead.

So I’m back.  Expect me to be causing the Harper Cons a great deal of trouble in all aspects of my life.  And  you never know, this blog might just be another campaign page four years from now.  Here’s hoping.

Complaints about federal scientists being muzzled have been voiced by groups ranging from science journalists to the union representing thousands of federal scientists in recent months.   Now, the union that represents federal government scientists launches a campaign and a website to put the spotlight on science for the public good.   Go get em!
